Is vacuum tube an effective long term replacement for wiper fluid hoses? Like will fluid make it degrade or anything? Asking for a friend. I’m my own friend.
Basically the hoses got so brittle with age that they cracked and started soaking my under-hood insulation. Eww. I gotta redo the the tubing all the way back down to the fluid pump because all the hoses are SO brittle that any attempt to cut it and insert a connector will just result in more cracking.
New hose sets are are only $10-20 online but I can go down to the parts store and get a roll of v acuum hose, like, yesterday. I can still reuse all the original connectors.
Aso it turns out my car has heated wiper nozzles which is a nice touch.

As an electrical engineer, vacuum tube means something very different to me and I was very confused reading this.
I'm sorry I can't help you with your real problem.

Ar e you an electrical engineer from the 50's?

Sure, I guess. They can take minimal pressure, 20 psi or so, and fluids that won't break down their construction (PVC, rubber, silicone, etc.).

Vacuum tubes are making a comeback for DIY audiophiles.
They're serious money right now.

It will be fine.

Ok, no hands-on experience with vacuum tubes.

If you're going to do the job, might as well take the time to do it right. At least that way you won't have to do it twice. Vacuum hose comes in different types and quality. The best ones would absolutely work, the worst ones... Yeah, but then they would degrade and plug your nozzles. As far as your connections go, half the time those are what leaks. They are 15 year old (?) German plastic, right?

It’s not the connectors. The hose was literally crum bling in my hands. And it's 20 year old German plastic.

Sorry what I meant about the connectors was that they may be fine now, but once you go to replace the hoses they might break or crack. Or even leak later on.
